This super yummy Oreo® frosting goes perfectly with a deep, dark chocolate cake. Makes enough to frost a 2-layer cake or 24 cupcakes.

Ingredients | Oreo Buttercream Frosting Recipe

½ cup butter, softened

½ cup shortening

⅓ (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ teaspoon salt

3 ½ cups confectioners' sugar

2 tablespoons heavy cream, or more as needed

8 chocolate sandwich cookies (such as Oreo®), finely crushed

Directions

Combine butter, shortening, and cream cheese in a bowl; beat with an electric mixer until creamy. Add vanilla extract and salt. Beat in confectioners' sugar, 1 cup at a time, until well incorporated. Add enough heavy cream to thin frosting to desired consistency. Fold in crushed cookies.

Substitute milk for heavy cream if preferred.

If frosting is too soft, chill for 10 to 15 minutes before using.
